How It Started

Hey! I’m Autumn, owner and founder of Word and Vine.

Here is my story:

I thought I had found my dream job in interior design right out of college, but after five years of burnout, stress-induced panic attacks, and a debilitating lack of creativity and inspiration, I frequently turned to Jesus asking for a change.

The more I prayed for change, the more I felt a calling over my life to use my gifts for art and design to serve others and ultimately glorify God. My job was restricting me from doing that well, but I was the breadwinner between my husband and me, and his ministry salary alone was not enough to cover our basic monthly expenses.

One morning in the fall of 2024, during my drive to work, I was listening to worship music and praying like I always did. I said to God, “Lord, if You want me to quit my job and start my own business creating art and sharing it with others, please give me Your peace. If not, please stir up my spirit with conviction.”

In that moment, I received overwhelming peace, and I knew I had to obey the calling God had placed on my life. Even though, on paper, it seemed risky, I knew that if the Lord was calling me to it, He would provide every step of the way.

I opened Word and Vine in March of 2025, officially launched the shop in June of 2025, and quit my full time job in August of 2025.

Our Mission

“Word and Vine”: JESUS is the WORD and the VINE. This was inspired by one of my favorite verses in John:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭5‬ ‭(ESV‬)

Word and Vine is a reminder to daily abide in our Savior, Jesus Christ. That is our mission, plain and simple. To walk in the hope, peace, comfort, and rest that only He can provide is a beautiful thing. To show others that hope is our daily purpose as followers of Christ.

Our Purpose

I have always been blessed with a passion and desire to create art. The job I mentioned before no longer allowed me to truly create, and over time, I felt completely starved of creativity and inspiration. Since starting Word and Vine, I have found a purpose bigger than myself through the beautiful gift of creating while inspired by the Creator.

I am also incredibly passionate about personal testimonies and hearing how Jesus has changed people’s lives. I could sit and listen to stories about people coming to know Jesus every single day and never get tired of it.

That is one of my biggest hopes for Word and Vine.

I pray that each piece not only inspires your family, friends, acquaintances, and even total strangers to start conversations about Jesus, but also gives you the opportunity to share your own testimony and how He has changed your life. Our testimonies are powerful. They open doors for Jesus to meet people exactly where they are and completely transform their hearts. Ugh, SO cool!

My hope and prayer for Word and Vine is that God is glorified through all of it, and that every person who sees your hoodie, t-shirt, or accessory proclaiming the love and hope of Jesus would be impacted in some way.

Word and Vine is still so new, but with overwhelming joy, we have already reached nearly 10,000 people through this mission. We are beyond grateful for every person who has visited, interacted with, supported, prayed for, or purchased from Word and Vine.
